What is Honours?
Honours is a 1 year program consisting of a research project and associated theoretical work. An Honours year provides professional training in a chosen area of specialisation and experience in scientific research. The Honours year enables students to learn new research techniques and broaden their skill base. The Honours experience leads to increased job opportunities and is the foundation year for direct entry into postgraduate research degrees in Australia, e.g. the PhD.
Prospective Honours students should contact the appropriate Honours co-ordinator listed on each School page. These co-ordinators will assist you in making contact with specific researchers who are working in an area of interest to you.

Honours Offers
Honours offers will be sent by email or hardcopy postal form, if no email provided.
- Email is the most rapid and efficient way to receive an offer and respond with acceptance.
- In your expression of interest, you are strongly advised to provide a current and correct email address and postal address, that you will be able to check and respond from during the period in which offers are made (see below).
- It is your responsibility to provide a correct address, and to check that address for an offer/outcome.
Offers may be made in advance of all of your final grades being posted. In such cases, you may accept the offer, but your admittance to the Honours program will be conditional on passing any courses required to complete your Bachelor's program.
