The University of Adelaide Australia

Course Changes from 2009 in the Faculty of Sciences

If you started your degree in 2007 or earlier and you have been enrolled in a single degree, have studied full time and have not failed any courses, you are unlikely to be affected by the changes.

The University is changing to a uniform system of unit values for undergraduate courses. Beginning in 2008, courses will gradually be changed so that the unit value for a given course will be a multiple of 3 (i.e., each course will either have a value of 3, 6, 9 or 12 units).  The Faculty of Sciences will be doing this in stages, such that level II courses will be 3 unit courses from 2009 and level III courses will be 3 unit course (or multiples of 3) from 2010.  Note that level I courses in the Faculty are already 3 unit courses.
If there is a change in the unit value of a course eg a change from 4 to 3 units, there will be a concomitant change in the workload for this course.
